Analyzing Visual Images in the 2007 Celebrex Commercial

Through visual images and text Celebrex strives to convince you that transaction with unsafe and ill at ease(predicate) side effects is a better choice than dealing with the pain of arthritis day to day. While the visual cues ar convincing, the overall capacity is contradicted by the overuse of text that focuses on invalidating side effects.
The ad, being made of all blue, really stands come to the fore and grabs your attention from the start. The color blue sends a tranquillize message. I thought about this for a while; why did they elect the color blue? And why were they dis come on a calm down effect? When you think of the audience they are trying to reach, these plenty are in pain everyday. Because of the pain, they are anything but relaxed. They are tense and uptight. When I convey feelings of pain in call of colors I picture flashing reds, oranges, and yellows. So naturally, when sending a message to this audience they pick a calming blue. First, to give a settling feeling that lets them know everything leave behind be alright. Second, because its all one color it becomes elemental for them to relate to. Finally, it sends them a feeling of freedom giving them the message that they can be free from pain.




The setting takes place in a suburban neighborhood with a white observatory fence. The impression I get is that it is reaching out to a old/elderly audience. Few trees line the street. The houses are non overly large or small. There are no children to be seen throughout the ad, continuing the impression of a middle-aged/elderly audience. Portrayed throughout the commercial is a macrocosm going about his, activity filled, day. The entire commercial takes place outside giving it a natural feeling.
