The high secern family was against endogamy and promoted endogamy values, morals, and norms of their social class. Their values pass to their descendents and the demand in turn was strict on their social circle (peer groups). Social placement is intimately demanded to be of the same class or higher. Social class and her role as a wealthy woman did swallow the mother state of mind emotionally, but not the young lady, nor did the male parent care about social class. The family struggled with the dominance of the mothers over baby buggy beliefs and it was pushing the family towards deviance and secrecy.
The demeanor of the mother toward her servants of the same racetrack and ethnic back ground was degrading, selfish, and she was inconsiderate of others. She believed that inwardly her own race state should be separated by their social standing in society, and the lower class people should be at her beck and call. This kind of thinking, lead to a hitch between her and miss.
The social conflict between the servants and the mother caused the daughter to defy the rules set by the mother and she became very argumentative. The daughter found out that the mother convinced (forced) one of the maids to realise for her on Christmas because the mother felt her family was more important than the untarnished helps was. The daughter was out raged and was deviant by inviting the servants family over for Christmas against her mothers wishes.
Social stratification is a trait of society, not simply a reflection of individual differences, it carries over from generation to generation, its universal but covariant and not just inequality but beliefs as healthful (Macionis p.3).
